Seven Card Stud

Seven card stud, perhaps the most complex of all poker games, this is due to the various hands that can be achieved from seven cards. Also a very expensive game, with five betting rounds each can have not only raises buy counter raises. Three of the cards are hidden, thus adding to the complexity of being able to calculate the opponent’s hands.

Each player is dealt two cards faced down, these are known as the ‘hole’ cards, with the third card dealt face up. If the game holds ‘antes’ the player with the highest face up cards starts the bet. He can chose to make the wager or check, to check means he can still place a bet should he wish to after someone else places one, or he can fold. All players can match or raise the total bet, or fold.

After the bets are placed, the second round cards are dealt facing up. The best two-card hand then starts the betting, again with the option in the round for raises. A third round is dealt face up with the same procedure as before. The forth round is then dealt, same process as previously. The final and fifth round the cards are dealt faced downwards. All players remaining, now have four cards facing and three hole cards, the players intention is to make the best hand out of the seven cards.

Texas Hold´Em

Players must make the best of five cards, similar to seven card stud, however all the cards are dealt face up.

One player is designated as the dealer for the round, with the two players to his left placing blinds of a pre-set amount. Cards are dealt to the left of dealer, (the big blind), players are given two faced down cards. The player to the left then has the option to see the blind raise of fold his hand. This format is played clockwise around the table. The Player who holds the strongest hand using his cards and the board, totaling five, wins
