Pair:



Two cards with the same rank, for example two 5s or two Queens.





Pat hand:



A complete hand that need not be split to improve, for example, a straight, full house, flushes, four of a kind and straight flushes are all pat hands.





Position:



The order in which players are seated in a poker game, which is integral to the strategy of each players game. Perhaps the most important factor in games of strategy





Pot:



Simply the central stake of money that has been contributed to by all players which they are all playing to win





Pot-Limit poker:



A player can only bet an amount up to but not greater than the size of the pot at the time of the bet.





Pot odds:



A player may assess the size of the pot, to decide if to call a bet. If there is a large pot, this may effect his decision to call on a mediocre hand. Conversely if the pot is small and a good hand held, it may not be worth a call, for the risk exposed.
